A message from the Treasurer

Summer 2023 taxes are here.. The in person tax payment hours are Mondays 10:00 am-1:00 pm and Thursdays 12:00pm-3:00pm. Any payments made after 9/14/23 are considered late and interest will be added to the amount due.

 

You can also mail in your payment or pay online. When paying through the mail and if you would like a receipt, please note it on your tax slip. Receipts can be mailed, emailed or faxed.

Notice Important Dates

 

September 14, 2023 is the last day to pay your 2023 Summer tax payments without penalty.

 

March 1, 2023 Winter 2022 taxes are considered late and will incur a penalty.

DELINQUENT TAX PAYMENTS​
​

Late 2022 Winter Taxes and payments for prior years must be paid through the Newaygo County Treasurer, reachable at 231-689-7230.  Before visiting, please call the Newaygo County Treasurer for an updated amount owing, including interest before paying your tax bill.  To pay in person, please visit the county building at 1087 Newell St., White Cloud, MI 49349.

There is a tax payment drop box for after-hours payments at the Township Hall.

Do not use drop box when paying with cash.

If you are paying in person at the above address please call beforehand to ensure the Treasurer is available on the day you are planning to visit.

Please do not send cash in the mail.

 

For a receipt mailed back, please include a SASE with your payment.  Alternatively, we can email or fax receipts as well if requested.

3. Pay Online:

​

The Township accepts tax payments using your credit card, debit card, or electronic check!  Paying your property taxes is quick, and secure and is as simple as paying your other bills online!

 

Here's how:

 

1. Click on the 'Pay Taxes Online' button below. You will be directed to our partner's secure website AccessmyGov.com.

Please note:  There is a convenience fee to pay online.  3% with a $2.00 minimum to use a debit/credit card and $3.00 fee up to $10,000.00 and $10 over $10,000 for eChecks.

 

2. Search for your parcel by your last name and then select your parcel from the list displayed.

​

3. Make payment due under the Pay Taxes on this Parcel section found near the end of the record. Verify the Amount Due and the Amount Paying amounts then click the Pay Taxes button. You will be directed to Point & Pay's secure online site for payment processing.

Permits

Permits are required for all additions, new buildings or camping on vacant lots in Big Prairie Township.

Please remember that it is illegal to burn without a permit. If you are planning to burn, please call the burn hotline at 866-922-2876 or visit Michigan's DNR website here.

 

Permits are issued for limbs, brush, stumps, evergreen needles, leaves, and grass clippings only.  It is NOT legal to burn demolition debris, construction materials, or automotive parts.
