The Fire Department, established in 1970, proudly serves a total of 72 square miles. 36 square miles in Big Prairie Township and 36 square miles in Goodwell Township. Our coverage area extends from 6 Mile Road in Goodwell Township to 48th Street in Big Prairie Township, and from Pine Avenue on the west to Newcosta Avenue on the east.
We respond to both fire and medical emergencies, providing essential services to our community. In 2024, we responded to 226 calls for service, and so far in 2025, we have already responded to 125 calls.

Applications can be picked up at the Fire Station on the first and second Monday of each month at 7 pm
Burn permits are found at Michigan DNR burn permits website. Information is updated every 10 minutes.
